Hawke's Bay has successfully defended the Shrimpton Trophy for 2020/21, despite going down in their final encounter against Manawatu - who could console themselves further by uplifting the Copelin Cup (a challenge trophy) in the process.

But Hawke's Bay had already locked away the prime trophy with a round to spare after defeating Taranaki by seven wickets one day earlier in the centralised final rounds in Palmerston North.

Hawke's Bay had headed to Fitzherbert Park already holding the lead in the campaign, after a good win against Wairarapa the previous weekend, needing only to tick off a further few points for the title.
