CDCA's biggest weekend of Inter-District rivalry is nearly here!
Both men and women from throughout CD Land - the only Major Association to cover both the North and South Islands - are converging on their respective tournaments, ready to fight for both silverware and CD selection spots.
The men's Chapple Cup gets underway this Friday morning with all three first-round matches (below) at Napier's Nelson Park, while the women's 2019/20 T20 Tournament starts in Levin on Saturday, with matches at both Donnelly Park and Weraroa Domain.
Taranaki is heading into the Chapple Cup as defending champions and have drawn a tough first-round opponent in Hawke's Bay, the hosts of the free admission, three-day tournament that sees three high quality rep games - primarily one-dayers - played side by side on the colourful ground.
Hitting the ground running is important for all sides. Every team is fired up to win in the first round with only the top teams progressing through to the Chapple Cup playoffs. Losing sides find themselves squaring off for the consolation Cave Cup, with both the Chapple and Cave Cup Finals held on Sunday.
Waiarapa, Taranaki and Horowhenua-Kapiti dominated last season's Women's T20 Tournament, all three sides picking up three wins in 2018/19. It's anybody's game, however, this weekend with strong line-ups heading to Levin and the Finals on Sunday afternoon after three rapid-fire rounds over the Saturday and Sunday.
There will be not only bragging rights and silverware at stake but, for our up-and-coming women, selection spots in the inaugural CD U19 women's team that will head to the newly introduced NZC Women's U19 nationals, which replaces the NZC U21 tournament of previous seasons.
Livescoring for both tournaments will be on CricHQ - or check our Chapple Cup and T20 Inter-District pages for the draws, links and more info.
