Coached by former Central Stags spinner Paul Unwin, HEREWORTH SCHOOL from Havelock North is off to represent us at NZC's National Primary School Cup after defeating New Plymouth's Francis Douglas Memorial College in this year's regional CD Final.
Held on 4 November 2020 in Palmerston North, Hereworth, Palmerston North Intermediate Normal, Huntley School and Francis Douglas were our four finalists in the CD playoffs this season.
Hereworth will go on to represent CD - for the second summer in a row - in Palmerston North on 16–18 November 2020, where CDCA will be hosting this year's national NZC tournament featuring the six best primary school boys' teams from all around New Zealand.
All the best to Hereworth as you proudly fly our CD flag!
CD won this national title in 2018/19 when Huntley School put in a strong performance for that year's trophy.
Then last season (2019/20), CD's representative was Hereworth, and we were delighted to see another strong performance at nationals, Hereworth claiming the runners-up medal and Micky Peacock named tournamanent MVP.
The sister competition is the National Primary School Shield, a competition for primary and intermediate schoolgirls.
It provides girls with the opportunity to play cricket amongst friends and test their skills against schools from within their region and, if successful, the best teams in the country.
The 2019/20, CD representative at the Nationals was Sacred Heart College from New Plymouth.
Masterton's unbeaten St Matthew's Collegiate meanwhile won our 2019/20 regional CD Finals tournament towards the end of last season to become our CD representative at this summer's nationals. Go well girls!
