The CENTRAL HINDS have a second new face in the WHITE FERNS squad with 22-year-old left-armer FLORA DEVONSHIRE called up to join newly capped ODI rep EMMA McLEOD and ROSEMARY MAIR for the imminent T20 International series against Sri Lanka, in Christchurch and Dunedin.
DEVONSHIRE is one of a trio of players called in after a raft of unfortunate injuries struck the WHITE FERNS during their successful ODI Series against Sri Lanka, hosted by CD in Napier and Nelson and inclusing performances by fellow Central Hinds rep HANNAH ROWE.
Hawke's Bay-raised and a representative of the Havelock North Cricket Club, genuine spinning allrounder Devonshire has impressed in the 25 List A one-dayers and 34 T20s she has played to date - including a sprinkling of appearances for New Zealand A and North Island, as well as the Central Hinds over recent seasons.
WHITE FERNS Head Coach Ben Sawyer said Devonshire is an exciting prospect for New Zealand.
“Flora’s shown a lot of all-round potential at the Domestic level and is another exciting young player that has qualities consistent with what we’re looking for in the WHITE FERNS.”
Regular WHITE FERNS wicketkeeper Izzy Gaze, who played as a batter only during the ODI series, sprained her left hip flexor when fielding during the 3rd ODI against Sri Lanka and has been replaced in the T20i squad by Otago's Polly Inglis.
Auckland's Bree Illing replaces Hayley Jensen who also has a hip flexor injury while Devonshire slots in for top order batter Bella James from the original T20i squad.
