AJAZ PATEL, WILL YOUNG FOR INDIA TESTS

Central Stags spin star AJAZ PATEL is revved up for another crack at India in India, after the BLACKCAPS' Test squad was confirmed for the upcoming tour, this morning.

Patel's outstanding feat of 10 wickets in a Test innings went down in the history books the last time he toured India with the BLACKCAPS, his Mumbai speccy placing him among just three players in all the long history of Test cricket to have achieved that rare feat.

Patel is joined by fellow Stag WILL YOUNG in the 17-strong Test squad to play India in the three-Test series.

Young has served as batting cover without getting a start in the team's recent forays, but that may be about to change.

The NZ squad will initially be without Kane Williamson who will delay his departure due to a groin strain, after having experienced discomfort in the second Test in Galle, Sri Lanka a fortnight ago.

Uncapped in Test cricket, Auckland Aces and BLACKCAPS white-ball batter Mark Chapman will therefore fly out with the team as cover for Williamson in the squad.

Allrounder Michael Bracewell will meanwhile travel with the squad for the first Test in Bengaluru before returning home for the birth of his second child, and will be replaced by Ish Sodhi for the remainder of the series.

The rest of the squad is stable, unchanged from the recent Test series against Sri Lanka, now with Tom Latham leading the side for the first time as full-time Test captain in place of Tim Southee.

Gary Stead will lead the BLACKCAPS coaching staff, alongside batting coach Luke Ronchi and bowling coach JACOB ORAM.

Most of the team will fly out this Friday, to link up with Patel who has remained in India after the Sri Lankan series.
