FOREMAN TO THE FORE

Taranaki teacher and coach AMY FOREMAN has been accepted into the national NZC Pathway To Performance Female Coaching Programme, one of 10 aspiring coaches selected from around New Zealand in the 2023/34 intake.

A teacher at New Plymouth's Sacred Heart Girls' College, Taranaki rep player and Central Districts and community age-group mentor and pathway coach in recent seasons, Foreman was most recently Assistant Coach of last summer's CD Under 17 Women's team that competed in the North Island Quad Tournament in January, and also coaches at school level in Taranaki.

Foreman is joined by CD Alumna and former WHITE FERN KATE EBRAHIM in this year's intake. Ebrahim is a fellow Taranaki scion, these days with the Otago Sparks but who got her start playing for Taranaki and the Central Hinds.

Ebrahim is one of several active Domestic players in this year's intake, and Foreman will be learning in a rich environment of experiences with plenty of internationals.

Paula Winsor (née Flannery) from Canterbury and current ND rep Sam Barriball are also former WHITE FERNS, and they're joined by recent ND reps Holly Topp and Mereana Hyde.

NZC Head of Female Engagement Jess Davidson said she was thrilled with the standard of coaches in this year’s intake.

“It's fantastic to have such a high calibre of applicants for the 2023/24 Pathway to Performance Programme,” she said.

“Not only does the group have immense coaching and playing experience, but an array of professional knowledge with coaches qualified in areas of education, law, nutrition, criminology and psychology.

“The NZC Coach Development Team and I are looking forward to supporting this group of coaches as they progress through their coaching journey”.

The group commenced the 10-month programme earlier the month, embarking on a programme which will feature several in-person and virtual learning opportunities.

CDCA congratulates Amy Foreman on winning an outstanding opportunity to further advance her coaching development.
