Central Districts Cricket is pleased to announce our representative age-group coaching staff appointed for the 2022/23 season.
This summer sees fresh faces stepping in to mentor our two men’s age-group national tournament teams, and the coaches for this summer’s teams are:
CENTRAL DISTRICTS U19 Men
Head Coach • JARROD Englefield
Assistant Coach • DAVIS Mills
CENTRAL DISTRICTS U19 Women
Head Coach • DAN Harper
Assistant Coach • KERRY Tomlinson
CENTRAL DISTRICTS U17 Men
Head Coach • GLENN Pocknall
Assistant Coach • CHRIS Coombe
Central Districts is proud to be New Zealand’s reigning champion at Under 19 level in both men’s and women’s cricket. Last summer was the first time CD had lifted the U19 men’s national trophy, and also the first season CD had won both the women’s and men’s title in the same year.
CD also has a strong track record in the national Under 17 title for boys, that was meanwhile not contested last season due to the Omicron outbreak.
CD Cricket Manager, High Performance DAVE MEIRING thanked the outgoing boys’ coaching staff from the landmark 2021/22 summer.
“Horowhenua-Kapiti’s CHAD LAW was our head coach of the successful men’s Under 19s last season and it was wonderful to see his passion for the team and the joy as the boys lifted the title.
“Chad has decided to step away from that position this season, but I’m very grateful that he will continue to be involved as a selector for our CD Men’s U19 team,” Meiring said.
“I’d also like to personally thank [Taranaki's] KURT LEUTHART who was Chad’s assistant last summer, for his role within our pathway over the last few summers, before moving in a different direction for work this winter.
“Kurt has been a very valuable member of the men's U17 and U19 coaching groups during that time.”
Meiring said CD is fortunate to have coaches of the calibre of Englefield and Pocknall to lead these programmes through 2022/23.
“I look forward to the next campaign from these teams in January, and we’re likewise excited for our CD U19 Women heading to their nationals next week."
Last season’s successful Women’s Under 19 Head Coach DAN HARPER will again take the lead role this summer, with Central Hind KERRY TOMLINSON assisting.
