CHAMPIONS! CD U19 DOES IT AGAIN

CENTRAL DISTRICTS has continued its strong record at women's age-group Nationals, CD's Under 19 Women's team today lifting the Gillette Venus NZC National Tournament crown for the second time in three seasons after a dominant week at Nationals.

CD U19 dropped only one close game all week across the two formats, and took four bonus points from their five one-day victories to finish in the clear at the top of the championship table.

The team had won the inaugural NZ U19 women's tournament two years ago and last year finished runner-up to Auckland in a close race for the trophy.

Previously, Central Districts had also performed strongly and won the National U21 title in recent years before the switch to an Under 19 pathway structure to align with the recently introduced ICC Women's U19 World Cup.

The trophy in Lincoln was proudly presented by CDCA alumna SARA McGLASHAN in her Women's Development role for NZC, after CD capped off a 5-1 record in the one-dayers with a comfortable five-wicket win against a well performed Otago Under 19 in the sole T20, at Bert Sutcliffe Oval.

Taranaki's JESSIE HOLLARD had an outstanding tournament at the top with 216 runs, including a top knock of 96.

CENTRAL HINDS spinner ASHTUTI KUMAR was the leading wicket-taker with 13 wickets and hauls of 4-12 and 4-22, while SAM MACKINDER had an excellent tournament behind the stumps with three stumpings and six catches.

Congratulations to all the team and management!
